Ragan gets Green Light for ‘comfy and happy life’

The emotional stress of unsuccessful job applications were taking there toll on the confidence, self belief and motivation of young Worcester jobseeker Ragan.

This was despite having good GCSE passes and previously having a leadership role when she worked in a busy pub

Ragan's long-term goal of 'a comfy and happy life' seemed impossible as the despair of unemployment took over.

Sarina Russo Job Access Worcester genuinely felt Ragan would benefit from the support of a vocational psychologist.

Ragan agreed to participate in Sarina Russo job Access' Green Light programme and made the most of this opportunity.

Ragan wanted a chance to utilise her really creative artistic skills and decided she would do whatever it took to maximise her opportunities.

Headway, a charity specialising in the support of those with head and brain injury, had a work placement opportunity in their shop and day care centre.

Ragan was soon working in the day care centre helping customers make Christmas cards. Her efforts were so well received that one of her Christmas designs was adopted by the charity as their Christmas card design.

Working in the care centre opened Ragan's eyes to the fact that she had a real talent for working with people and the skills to become a great carer.

With support from her Sarina Russo Job Access advisor Karen, Ragan began to apply for care jobs and was offered a Trainee Care Assistant job with a care agency.

Ragan keeps in touch with the Sarina Russo Job Access team and even recommended her boyfriend Paul to undertake the Green Light programme.

Paul is now doing his work placement at Headway running their Ebay shop, developing his web skills and there is a real chance of a permanent job in the new year.

Ragan is proof that with the right support and attitude the sky is the limit. She went from jobless to creative designer to trainee care assistant in less than 4 weeks - what an inspiration.
